- Arrival and departure: transit policies depend on eligible ports, areas, nationality and onward travel. A domestic connection or route change can alter the answer.
- Specialist permissions: Tibet and other restricted areas may require additional documents arranged through the relevant operator or local authority.
Visa-free transit is conditional
China’s current transit options are policy-sensitive. Eligibility can depend on nationality, passport type, the length of stay, designated entry points, permitted areas and a confirmed onward itinerary.
