What this routing is, and who it is for
The Platinum Gold Diamond set is the value configuration of the third-generation Snow Lotus fleet: the same en-suite cabin standard and hotel level as the flagship at a distinctly lower fare, on a second trainset that runs a denser layout. Its ten-day northern loop is the shortest way onto a New Orient Express journey, and the market has noticed: per the operator's October chart, six of the set's fourteen-day sailings are already sold out for 2027, while the August 20 short-route sailing remains open.
Published rates for the short route are RMB 21,888 per person in a four-berth compartment and 27,888 in a two-berth room. A third guest in a four-berth compartment travels at the third-berth rate of 16,888, and solo travellers who cannot be paired pay a train single-berth supplement of 10,000 plus a land single supplement of 6,000. All eight breakfasts and sixteen lunches and dinners, entrance tickets and ground transport are inside the fare.
Two structural differences from the flagship loop are worth knowing before you compare prices. The Platinum sailings base at Jiadengyu outside the Kanas gate and day-trip in, where the flagship sleeps inside the scenic areas at Kanas and Hemu. And the routing swaps the far south for the Ili valley's quieter corners: Tekes, the eight-armed bagua town, and the Koksu Grand Canyon appear on this loop alone.
The day-by-day
Sequence as published in the operator's sales plan. The tour director may adjust the order of visits for weather or road conditions without dropping listed sights; train times use 2026 reference schedules until the 2027 railway calendar is published.

The Duku note, in full
Day 6 uses the Duku Highway's northern section, between the Dushanzi side and the Nalati turn, which is open to travellers on all passports. The section that is restricted, Bayanbulak in the road's middle stretch, does not appear on this routing at all; only the flagship fourteen-day loop includes it. As published: the Duku Highway is open to mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan travel documents; the Bayanbulak section alone is not open to holders of foreign passports, and where an itinerary includes that section, foreign-passport guests travel a substitute routing arranged by the operator. On this short route, no substitute is needed.
Late August on this loop
The single August 20 sailing is timed deliberately: the Altay forests begin turning in the last week of August, the Ili grasslands are still green, and Heavenly Lake sits between summer crowds and autumn light. Riders who want the full golden autumn should compare the flagship's September sailings instead, which price higher and run fourteen days; riders who want the shortest, most affordable New Orient Express journey with the same en-suite cabin standard are exactly who this sailing is built for.
