Everything that governs a Snow Lotus booking in one place: the deposit-plus-balance schedule, the operator's cancellation ladder, the free name-change window, solo-traveller supplements, health and insurance rules, and where booking stands for each tier right now. The figures below follow the operator's published terms; the clause in your signed contract is authoritative.
How a booking runs, start to finish
Enquire and choose. Tell us the dates, the tier and the occupancy. We reply with the open sailings on the operator's current chart and confirm the live position, because availability moves.
Written confirmation. Before any money moves, we confirm in writing: train group (Purple-Gold or Platinum), sailing date, cabin tier, occupancy, and the exact fare including supplements. This is also the moment to confirm the routing that applies to your passports.
Passport scan. A clear scan of each traveller's passport is needed at booking; the same document feeds the electronic border permit for the Pamir sectors, which the operator arranges as part of the tour.
Deposit. RMB 20,000 per person on the 14-day routes, or RMB 10,000 per person on the Platinum short and southern routes. The deposit locks your tier and departure and is non-refundable once paid.
Balance at 45 days. The balance is due 45 days before departure. A balance unpaid past that date is treated as a cancellation of the booking.
Final details. Assembly point, timing and the day-by-day schedule are confirmed in the pre-departure documents; the operator's general terms allow changes of up to 7 days' notice for railway dispatch reasons.
The train is also bookable directly through the operator's hotline, 400-012-3545 (Chinese-language service). What we add is the English-language side: route and cabin comparison, written confirmation of every figure before you commit, passport and permit handling, and liaison with the operator throughout.

Where booking stands (October 2026)
Imperial & Supreme · presale
All 14 sailings on the flagship Purple-Gold group remain open on the operator's October 2026 chart. Formal booking is expected to open around the Spring Festival (February 2027) at the latest; registering interest now is what secures a place in the first allocations, and the deposit is collected when booking formally opens.
Platinum · open now
Open for booking today. Already sold out on this set: Apr 18, Jun 9, Jun 23, Aug 31, Sep 14 and Sep 27. Still open: May 18, Jul 7, Jul 22, Aug 5, the Aug 20 short route and Oct 13 and 26. Platinum moves fast precisely because it is the value tier.
Solo travellers
The operator pairs single guests of the same gender where possible; a supplement applies only if pairing is not possible or you prefer your own room. It has two parts:
Train single-berth supplement: RMB 46,000 on Supreme, 38,000 on Imperial, 15,000 on Platinum (14-day routes); on the southern 11-day, 20,000 and 15,000 on the flagship tiers and 10,000 on Platinum.
Land single supplement: RMB 8,000 on Imperial and Supreme (4,000 on the southern edition); on Platinum, 4,500 in spring, 6,000 in summer and on the short route, 3,500 on the southern edition.
Health, insurance and documents
Health: guests aged 70 and above submit a medical check from the last six months plus a health declaration; guests 75 and above travel with an accompanying family member. Channel policies flag 80+ as not recommended. A medical team travels with the train throughout.
Insurance: the included policy carries a maximum cover of RMB 200,000. Travellers aged 80 and above and children under 3 are not covered, or are covered at 50%, under the operator's policy terms.
Passport and visa: a valid passport is required for booking (a clear scan); China visa arrangements follow your nationality. The Pamir sectors need an electronic border permit, which the operator arranges as part of the tour; the permit cannot be applied for online by travellers themselves.
Routing by passport: confirm in writing, before paying the deposit, which routing applies to your travel documents on the departure you choose.
Frequently asked questions
No. The operator holds nothing without the deposit; the deposit is what locks the tier and departure. What we can do before that is register your interest, confirm the live availability in writing, and move the moment you decide. On summer and golden-autumn sailings, two to four months of lead time is the practical floor for suite tiers.
Departure dates, stops, routing and duration are ultimately set by final railway dispatch commands, and the operator's general terms provide for changes with up to 7 days' notice. If a change materially affects your booking, contact us and we will take it up with the operator on your behalf under the contract terms.
The fare includes the train accommodation, hotels along the route, all listed meals, entrance tickets with VIP access at major sites, ground transport and the guide team. Outside it sit return flights or trains to Urumqi, single supplements where applicable, personal expenses, and force-majeure costs.
Summer and golden-autumn sailings sell out first, and Platinum has already lost six of its 13 departures for 2027. Two to four months of lead time is the practical floor for suite tiers; for the flagship Imperial and Supreme, presale registration is the current way in.
